Verb

What is the Verb?

The verb is an important word in English, because we can not make a sentence without a verb. But we can make a sentence only with a verb, for example : "see". Many verbs give the idea of action, of "doing" something, but some verbs give the idea of existence, of state, of "being". A verb always has a subject, therefore, we can say that verbs are words that say us what a subject does or is; they describe.

      * Action [Sakib Al-Hasan plays cricket.] verbs like work, sleep, walk all convey action.

      * State [Adam Gilcrist seems polite.]  verbs like exist, be, subsist all convey state.

Note : Almost all verbs change in various form. The verb "do" has six forms

Do       = Present form.

Does   = Simple Present form.

Doing  = Present participle form.

Did      = past form.

Done   = Past participle form.

To do  = Infinitive form.
